Dr. Nancy O’Rode joined the faculty in 2004, coming to Northridge from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she served as a postdoctoral researcher for the Center for Equity in Mathematics and Science Education and Project RENEW, an NSF-funded teacher leadership and renewal project. Dr. O’Rode holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Teaching and Learning from UCSB. Her classroom teaching experience spans grades 4 – 11 in California, Spain, and Kenya. As a Peace Corps volunteer, she taught pre-service teachers in the Fiji Islands. Her teaching and research interests encompass algebraic thinking, equity in mathematics education, teacher leadership, and mathematics curriculum and instruction.
