Dr. Sandra Chong joined the faculty in 1996, coming to Northridge from California State University, Los Angeles where she served as an Assistant Professor of Education. Dr. Chong has served as a classroom teacher, Bilingual Coordinator and a Multicultural Advisor before teaching at Institutions of Higher Education as an assistant and associate professor. Dr. Chong holds a B.A. in Vocal Performing Arts from University of Southern California, M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction in Education from University of Southern California, and Ph.D. in Language and Literacy in Education from University of Southern California. Her teaching and research interests are in language and literacy developmentâEnglish language, emergent and home literacy developmentâand teacher education.
