Supplemental Authorizations
Supplemental Authorization for Holders of Single Subject Credentials
Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, §80089, 80089.1, and 80089.2, allows Single Subject, Standard Secondary, and some Special Secondary Credential holders to add supplementary authorizations to their credentials if they have completed 20 semester units or 10 upper division semester units in the subject area(s) to be added. Specific requirements for the supplementary authorizations are outlined on form CL-603, which is available from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Supplemental Authorization for Holders of Multiple Subject Credentials
Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, §80057.5,
allows Multiple Subject and Standard Elementary Credential
holders to add supplementary authorizations for teaching in
departmentalized classrooms in grades 9 and below to their
credentials if they have completed 20 semester units or 10 upper
division units in the subject area(s) to be added. Specific
requirements for the supplementary authorizations are outlined on
form CL-629 which is available from the California Commission on
Teacher Credentialing.
