Bettina Babbitt, ’74, has over 30 years experience in Human Systems Integration front-end analysis, human factors engineering, cognitive engineering, decision aiding, pilot training and flight simulation, usability testing and test and evaluation.
Sylvia Patsaouras received two Bachelor’s degrees at California State University, Northridge, in Urban Studies (Cum Laude), ’87, and in Political Science, ‘88. She graduated from the UCLA School of Architecture and Urban Planning with an M.A. degree in Urban Planning and was honored by the UCLA Latino Alumni Association as the 2002 Alumna of the Year.
Ed has received many awards for his accomplishments, including the Community Award from the La Raza Alumni Association of Cal State Northridge (1979); the Valley Leadership Institute Spirit of Lenore Leadership Award (1997); the City of San Fernando Cesar Chavez Award (2000) and the Cardinal’s Award from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2004.
Bruce F. Whizin, ’71, President of The Whizin Foundation, The Whizin Support Foundation, and Genesis Charitable Consulting Group, Inc., joined the Jewish Community Foundation Board of Trustees in 1994. Bruce has been a restaurateur, a real estate property manager, and a licensed psychotherapist/hypnotherapist and family counselor.
As President of the Herb Alpert Foundation, Rona Sebastian, ’72, oversees a wide range of programs that support the arts, arts education, youth development and compassion and well-being. She defines, plans and administers the Foundation’s areas of funding and program development.
Bernard K. Melekian, ’80 and ’94, was appointed Director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for the Department of Justice in October 2009. Prior to his appointment, Melekian served as the Police Chief for the City of Pasadena since 1996.
